My biggest fitness goals have been to gain strength and to build confidence in my physical abilities. I’m a passionate and goal oriented person.
I’ve been afraid of weights for a long time. Not because I thought I’d get too bulky, but because I thought I’d hurt myself! Having had a few failed attempts and injuries at other gyms and with different programs, I started avoiding weights. Now, after 6 months of personal training with Geoff and small group training, I feel much more confident and incorporate weights into each of my workouts.
I’ve found that the confidence and skills I’ve gained at the gym have aided in my abilities outside the gym. I am a veterinarian and work at an emergency hospital. Strength and stamina are very important aspects of my job; I lift heavy animals and work long, grueling hours. These tasks are a lot easier now that I’ve invested in my physical wellbeing.
My biggest challenge has been keeping a consistent gym schedule. My work schedule changes weekly and I work overnights. Many times, it would be much nicer to lie in bed after a rough shift than to get myself to the gym! Luckily, CSC offers so many classes at so many different times that I can always find a time that will work for me. That is one of the biggest things that drew me to become a member in the first place.
I usually have trouble staying motivated to get to the gym when I have a lot on my mind or am going through a rough patch in my personal life. However, working out has actually become therapeutic to me. When I force myself to get into the gym, even if I’m feeling down or having a bad day, I never regret it. Keeping that in mind allows me to regain focus and keep up with my fitness goals.
What I absolutely love about my workouts is the feeling I get when I go beyond what I thought I was capable of. I’m always testing the waters to see what I can do… adding a little more weight, running a little faster, jumping a little higher.
I love to push and challenge myself. The incredible staff here at CSC has given me the tools and guidance to make this possible.
I’ve always been looked upon as the “small, weak” one. The amount of strength I’ve gained is amazing and is the biggest change I’ve noticed. When I first started at CSC about a year ago, I could hardly curl 7 lbs and was reaching for the smallest kettlebell. I’ve worked myself way up from there!
