In my family, sports are a way of life. For my brother it was baseball, and for me and my sister it was field hockey. Field hockey was where I first learned what my body was capable of doing and how much a constant drive to improve could translate directly to success. The training regimen I endured was grueling, but at the time I was so consumed by the thrill and drive of pushing my body that I was blind to the demands of my schedule. This experience built a foundation for me of a passion for physical fitness and early appreciation of its benefits.
After high school this love of training transitioned from the field to the gym. I quickly became intrigued by the sheer variety of different training techniques and tried my hand at many of them, focusing on targeting my weaknesses in each. CrossFit, bodybuilding, power lifting – you name it, I’ve tried it. I watched my physique change and get stronger, only fueling my passion. I also began to appreciate how my time in the gym temporarily unplugged me from the outside world, and let me escape in an hour long burst of self-improvement. Although at the time I was in school for Fine Arts, I couldn’t help but feel that this growing enthusiasm for fitness was worthy of much more than a hobby, and could do so much good if shared with others. This is what ultimately led me to attaining my NASM Personal Training certification and entering the fitness world.
Through my own training I have found that the benefits of fitness are remarkable and widespread, contributing positively to so many aspects of my life. Now combined with my comprehensive NASM education, I am ready and excited to begin sharing and applying this passion with the wonderful members of CSC!
